Today is Sunday, which means it's Featured Stamper day at SCS! I loved making this card. I used Papertrey White, Purple Core'dinations for paper. Ink is Elegant Eggplant, and then I added some Primas and a brad in coordinating colors of the ribbon. The sentiment stamp is by Inky Antics, and I used a misc. clear stamp for the border. I made this card for our nephew's Birthday today. Tried to go for the masculine look! I used Papertrey White, Chocolate Chip, Gloriuos Green, Elegant Eggplant & DCWV Glitter Mat Stack paper. The stamps are Stampendous & Village Arts Press. Got them in a grab bag. I colored the cake with Prismacolor pencils, added Stickles and some Purple Fibers. I also sponged a little Yoyo Yellow on the white. Chris liked the card! I haven't had any nurse jokes for awhile, so here is one I found: YOU MIGHT BE AN E.R. NURSE IF . . . Discussing dismemberment over a gourmet meal seems perfectly normal to you.. You believe a good tape job wil

Wow, I can't believe it has been 2 weeks since I've updated!! I've been working a lot, had a sinus infection, went out of town for 4 days to babysit for Hunter, while his Mom worked 12 hour shifts, went out of town for Hunter's 4th birthday party, and my husband is in the hospital for a COPD exacerbation! I did get a couple of cards made, and here is one from the Saturday Inspiration Challenge. I found this very pretty DP I had, and just added the punched border (Martha Stewart) and stamped "happiness" in Regal Rose. I used the SU oval and scallop oval punches. Added a couple of primas and brads, and a piece of ribbon with a piece of Silver Hodgepodge Hardware. Oh, plus some stickles around the "happiness." I made my own "Edible arrangement" for Hunter's birthday party. You can't see them very well, but I have 4 pineapple rings with a cantaloupe ball in the center. (One for each year!) I used honey dew , cantaloupe, oranges, black

I couldn't wait to get these 2 new stamps!! The first one is " Ladies with Purses ", with the sentiment " All dressed up, and nowhere to go ." I had a black and white or sepia image in my mind, but I ended up coloring them! I think they are a hoot!! I used Real Red Paper , SU dp, Gina K Pure Luxury White, Prismacolor Pencils, Pebbles Chalk, a Prima and a Gem Brad. The next card is " The Girls ", with the sentiment " Growing old can be fun if you do it with the right people. " I used Elegant Eggplant, Lavender Lace , and a piece of the Wax Resist Embossed papers that I made last week. ( White glossy paper with Lavender Lace & Brilliant Blue.) I also used my Prismacolor pencils, Pebbles Chalk, and 2 different ribbons. I do want to try more of these, but I need to get the right color of ink to stamp with. I had a really nice Mother's Day yesterday. We went to Wausau to visit my Mom. We all went out to eat an early dinner,

Image
This week is Nurse's Week . Wednesday I worked a 12 hour shift, and I got a very big surprise !! I was sent a beautiful Edible Arrangement from someone very special to me!! It was actually for me AND my fellow nurse's!! Here is a picture of it, and a few of my co-workers. The picture isn't very good 'cause it's from my camera phone. ( Thats me, 2 nd from the right.) The fruits were Oranges, Honey Dew Melon, Cantaloupe, Red Grapes, Strawberries , and Chocolate covered Strawberries and Bananas covered in 1/2 W hite Chocolate and 1/2 M ilk Chocolate. They were very yummy!!! My Mom sent me this card in the mail. The inside says: Even as a child, you sensed when others needed care, You tucked in sleepy dolls and tended ailing teddy bears... Today it makes your family proud to see the work you do, Because it shows the caring that's so much a part of you! Happy Nurses Day

Ways to use it Challenge card

Todays SCS challenge was to make a card using Kraft paper. I think this is only my 2nd or 3rd time ever using Kraft. I stamped the background with Chocolate Chip using Beyond the Basics . I used my Nesties in my CuttleBug to cut out the Chocolate Chip and the DCWV Glitter Mat Stack DP. The Larger Oval punch to punch out Chocolate Chip, and the smaller Oval punch to punch ot the "Thank you" from Oval All. I colored Flower Fluffles by Stampendous with Prismacolor Pencils & Gamsol . Shaded around the edges with Pebbles Blue Chalk and then cut it out and mounted it on Kraft paper. I added a pink & yellow Prima with a copper brad , and added stickles all over to add some bling! I'm fighting off a killer headache right now. The last 3 days at work were very, very busy, so I'm really glad to be off for 2 days now! I've got to get my Mother's Day shopping done and about a million other things!! Nurse joke: A woman in Tippiecanoe brought he

My first Embossed Wax Resist card!!

Image
Today on SCS, the challenge was making an Embossed Wax Resist card. I used my Cuttlebug Swirls folder, and then rolled on YoYo Yellow and then Brilliant Blue!! I love how the background turned out!! I used Serene Spring for my Image. My flowers do not look really well, in fact they look wilted. But overall, I like how the card turned out. I also used the Creative Memories corner rounder, added 2 primas and a brad. I also like the multi colored fibers! It was a very, very busy day at work! I ended up working 1.5 hours overtime, because we had so many patients left at shift change. We admitted 8 patients on the day shift. Seems everyone that came in today was really sick!! I really wanted to get home, because I was so tired, but I also wanted to try this new technique!! Nurse Joke: This guy decides to get a sex change. So he goes to the doctors and has the thing done. A couple of weeks later he was talking to one of his old buddies about it. "Gee, it must have really hurt wh

Time well spent.....

Well, today is my day off. The last 2 at work were pretty busy. Suprisingly, only a couple of people came in thinking they had the Swine Flu!! (They did not.) Almost every patient I took care of in the Emergency Department, did, however get admitted. One patient on the phone said he was going to call the White House and his Congressman because I wouldn't order an MRI and other tests for him.(11:30 pm on Saturday night.) He swore at me and then hung up. So on to better things!! Today we will be going to Noah's Preschool Graduation and then to a Spaghetti dinner. Today I made a card for SCS Featured Stamper Challenge. I'm happy with how it turned out! Recipe: Stamp: SU Time Well Spent Paper: Pretty in Pink, Elegant Eggplant, Creative Memories designer paper, Gina K Pure Luxury White Ink: Black, Elegant Eggplant Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils, Gamsol, Stickles, Fibers, Dimensionals Nurse Joke of the day: You might work in an ER if...
