I made my own Faux Denim paper!!

Image
This was a fun challenge on SCS today! Making your own denim look paper. I used Brocade Blue paper, then used Ballet Blue ink and rubbed it vertically down the paper length. Then again using Night of Navy , then again with White (Pigment ink). I then heat set it with my Embossing Heat Tool. Next, you turn the paper 90 degrees and do the same process again. I used SU The Free & The Brave Stamp set. I stamped the Eagle/words in black on Kraft paper, then stamped it again with Night of Navy on PTI White paper, and cut out the Eagle. I added it with Dimensions to the Kraft paper. I stamped the Sentiment with Night of Navy. I then used my Creative Memories Star Punch to cut of 3 stars. To the larger Star I added a White clip and silver brad, and Stickles to all of the stars. It was fun!! But if I do it again, I will definately wear gloves!! All of my fingertips on my left hand are blue ! Today I had a Cardiac Stress test, since I have been having...

River City Rubber Works

I couldn't wait to get these 2 new stamps!! The first one is " Ladies with Purses ", with the sentiment " All dressed up, and nowhere to go ." I had a black and white or sepia image in my mind, but I ended up coloring them! I think they are a hoot!! I used Real Red Paper , SU dp, Gina K Pure Luxury White, Prismacolor Pencils, Pebbles Chalk, a Prima and a Gem Brad. The next card is " The Girls ", with the sentiment " Growing old can be fun if you do it with the right people. " I used Elegant Eggplant, Lavender Lace , and a piece of the Wax Resist Embossed papers that I made last week. ( White glossy paper with Lavender Lace & Brilliant Blue.) I also used my Prismacolor pencils, Pebbles Chalk, and 2 different ribbons. I do want to try more of these, but I need to get the right color of ink to stamp with. I had a really nice Mother's Day yesterday. We went to Wausau to visit my Mom. We all went out to eat an early dinner,...

Another Mother's Day card

Image
Well, here is another Mother's day card. I really like how it turned out! I like the first view because the water looks so sparkly, and the second view, because you can see the darker pools around her feet! Recipe: Paper: Lavender Lace, DCWV Glitter Mat Stack, PTI White Stamps: SU Summer by the Sea, Penny Black (Verse), Misc flower Accessories : Prismacolor Pencils, Pebbles Chalk, Primas, Brads, Gems, Stickles, Creative Memories Corner Rounder My Mom , brother Cliff , my daughter Cristine , and I went to the Donor Remembrance Ceremony today. It was a very moving experience. There was a lot of crying, but also many smiles too. I'm sure my Dad's gift will benefit a lot of people. It will take some time yet before we hear from anyone that received my Dad's tissue. (If they decide to share with us.) If anyone is interested in learning more about MTF (Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation) , you can email at : http://www.mtf.org/ See my previous post to view the *But...

Butterfly for Donor Remembrance Ceremony

Image
Sunday, there is going to be a Donor Remembrance Ceremony here in Madison for the donor families to honor the memory of their loved ones. There will be a panel of tissue transplant recipients offering their thanks. My Dad passed away on June 29, 2008 , and he donated his tissue to help others. We were given a Butterfly to decorate to honor our loved one. I attached the poem & pictures that we used in the Memorial Card. I added 3 large Blue flowers, 1 for my Mom , my Brother Cliff , and myself . I attached 8 small red flowers for the 8 Grandchildren , and the 1 small blue flower for Hunter, the only Great-Grandchild . I stamped various words and sayings. My friend, Greg, made this quilt square for me. He transferred the same pictures onto fabric and outlined it with Red fabric with Stars. This square will be added to a Local and/or National Donor Family Quilt . I think it turned out wonderful! My Mom, brother Cliff , and my youngest daughter, Cristine will be going to the cere...

Talk about Stress!!

Image
Well, it has been a very busy week for me!! This past weekend I went to visit my Daughter Jenn and my Grandson Hunter. He has been sick with cold symptoms for over 2 weeks. He had been to the doctor 2 times and put on 2 different antibiotics. We decided to go to the Humane Society and pick out a Kitty! We all chose Rascal, an 8 month old Tabby. Jenn & Hunter were able to adopt him, and take him home the same day!! We all had a fun weekend playing with Rascal. Hunter had a check up on Monday and was told that everything was fine! The next morning around 3 am, he woke up his Mama complaining that his ear hurt. She decided to let him sleep in and not go to daycare on Tuesday. He played that night with company & Rascal. The next morning his ear and tummy hurt, and she decided that he wouldn't go that day either. He remarked about not having to go to daycare and she thought maybe he was "fibbing" about his aches. He then developed a fever, so she took him back to the ...
