Challenges-Featured Stamper & Color

Image
Today I had lunch with my daughter Cristine at Panera. We had a good time. I gave her the souveniers I brought back for her from Alabama. She liked them! Then I went for my 30 minute massage. I just had one last week, but I really needed it. I keep most of my stress in my neck and shoulders! Then I made a trip to Michael's . I found a few $1 Stamps from Studio G , some Rhinestone stickers , $1 ribbon (like I don't have enough) and a couple of new punches . (They were 40% off). So I came home and got busy. I made 2 challenge cards today. Baby Brooke did come home today! Her Daddy had to put her swing together, because she didn't like sleeping in her new quiet room!! My first challenge card was the Featured Stamper of the week, "Justpaintingaround" on SCS. Recipe: Stamp : Studio G $1 Paper : Lovely Lilac, Pink Pirouette, Pink Passion, Shimmery White, Cloud 9 "Palace Walls" (Sparkle Cardstock) Accessories : Primas, brads, Rhinestone stickers, Nesti

We are having a birthday party on Saturday for our Grandson Noah who recently turned 5. We are going to have some of the shrimp that we brought back form Alabama. Cold shrimp and Seafood Lasagna to name a couple of things! Jenn & Hunter will be coming from Marshfield. I was only able to get 1 card made today. Well, today was a sad day. It has been 9 months today that my Dad died. In some ways its seems like yesterday, but then it also seems like forever. I had to work, but it was a very, SLOW day. We only saw 3 patients in our Emergency Room! Usually on a Sunday we can see anywhere from 10-20 . We had about 2" of snow last night, so maybe that's what kept them all away! Yesterday was a good day. Our Grand-daughter Brooke Elizabeth was born at 5:03 am. I don't have a picture downloaded yet, but she is really a cutie. She was 6 lbs. 14 oz and 20" long. Has lots of dark hair too. She is the daughter of Kari & Jason (my husband Tom's son) I stopped after work yesterday and held her for about 20 minutes!! She was born via C-section, because she just didn't want to come out on her own! I did get one card made this weekend. It was for a color challenge of Black & White on SCS. It is much prettier in real life!! Recipe: Stamp: Always in my thoughts, B

Vacation/Spring Break is over!

Image
The last 4 days in Gulf Shores , the weather was great! Hot & Sunny! We spent most of the days in the sun, either at the pool or on the beach! We left on Saturday morning and drove to Memphis , so we could visit Graceland on Sunday morning! It was great seeing where Elvis lived! It was smaller than I imagined, but still wonderful!! I'm all "shrimped up" for a few weeks, I think! The food was great. My Grandson Hunter had his check up yesterday, and he is all clear now! Plus he is feeling much better! I even brought him back a Hermit Crab !! He likes crabs, so hopefully he will like this one. My Mom even got my brothers kids each one! They love them!! I did get most all of my ribbon wrapped and put into containers.(3) I do need to get one more container though!! My husband cut matting board up for me, into 2-1/2" x 2" pieces. My Mom did MOST of the wrapping in the car on the drive to and from vacation! We wrapped the ribbon around and secured with an elast

On vacation!

Well, I don't have anything crafty to post today, as I'm on vacation in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The first 3 days here it rained, but today is beautiful, sunny and about 70 right now. The rest of the week is supposed to be more of the same. Tomorrow we are going to Pensacola,Fl to see the Blue Angels practice. last night I had 2 lbs of crab legs (actually I shared them with my Mom, and she shared her Butterfly shrimp with me). They were delicious!! Then we went souvenier shopping! Today we plan to spend most of the day at the pool and the beach!! The other day we shopped and I got some really cool sandals, called SwitchFlops. I'll have to post a picture of them later! My Grandson Hunter is doing much better now. Thank you to all that have sent well wishes!!!

Talk about Stress!!

Well, it has been a very busy week for me!! This past weekend I went to visit my Daughter Jenn and my Grandson Hunter. He has been sick with cold symptoms for over 2 weeks. He had been to the doctor 2 times and put on 2 different antibiotics. We decided to go to the Humane Society and pick out a Kitty! We all chose Rascal, an 8 month old Tabby. Jenn & Hunter were able to adopt him, and take him home the same day!! We all had a fun weekend playing with Rascal. Hunter had a check up on Monday and was told that everything was fine! The next morning around 3 am, he woke up his Mama complaining that his ear hurt. She decided to let him sleep in and not go to daycare on Tuesday. He played that night with company & Rascal. The next morning his ear and tummy hurt, and she decided that he wouldn't go that day either. He remarked about not having to go to daycare and she thought maybe he was "fibbing" about his aches. He then developed a fever, so she took him back to the

Cards, Black & White

Image
I was in the mood to make a Black & White card. I just bought some new glitter paper, so I thought I would give it a try. I did put a piece of light gray on the inside, and used the Martha Stewart Border Punch to the bottom. This way if you want to write inside, you won't have to hunt for a light colored pen! It looks much prettier in Real Life!! Here is the recipe: Stamp: SU For a friend Paper: Black , misc. medium gray, misc. dark gray, DCWV Glitter Paper, Gina K Pure Luxury White Ink: Black Accessories: Primas, Silver Hodgepodge hardware , Nesties Oval Scallops, Black Velvet Ribbon, White Sheer Ribbon, Prismacolor Marker , Silver Stickles , Martha Stewart Border Punch Well, tomorrow I have a 12 hour shift, so I probably won't be able to create anything. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a good day!!

Sketch Challenge 218

Image
Well, I was up late last night, so I got a headstart on the Wednesday Sketch Challenge at SCS. (I guess it could be because I took a 2 hour nap from 6-8pm!) I was up early yesterday, 5am because I couldn't sleep. I'm very happy with how this card turned out. It's the first time I used the stamp set, and those cute clips. Here is the recipe: Stamp: Always in my thoughts Ink: Black Paper: Brocade BLue, Lavender Lace, White, Creative Memories DP Accessories: Prismacolor pencils, Pebbles Chalk, ribbon, clip, brads

Pink, Green & Brown, Oh my!!

Image
Last night at work was a night to remember! I was the Triage Nurse for 4 hours. At the same time, we had 3 patients who all had suicidal ideation. That meant they all had to change into pajamas, their belongings had to be cataloged and removed from the room. Well, there were no rooms left, so they all had to sit in front of the Nurse's station with a sitter until rooms became available. Of the 3, only 1 patient got admitted. Then I did Telephone Triage for the next 4 hours and I only got verbally abused 1 time! Now I have 2days off to rest & relax and hopefully be creative!! SO for today's Color Challenge card, the colors to be used were: Passion Pink, Chocolate Chip & Kiwi Kiss. I added Ski Slope dp. Also used: Prismacolor pencils, Gamsol, Nesties, Ribbon, Hodgepodge Hardware Brads, Misc. Brad, ribbon, Pebbles chalk, Martha Stewart Border Punch Stamp: SU time Well Spent. I really like how it turned out!

Is it really all Black & White??

Image
I didn't get to post yesterday, as I had to work 12 hours!!! It wasn't really busy, so the time really dragged by! I spent the entire shift doing Telephone Triage. Didn't really have any interesting calls. I did have to send the police to check on a patient who was very depressed, and it turns out the ambulance took him in for evaluation. So...maybe I saved a life!! Yesterday was a sad day, though, because it was 8 months that my Dad died. I thought about him all day long. The pain will never go away, I just hope that some day most of my thoughts will be happy ones instead of sad ones. Well, to get on with my challenge card. Kelly had so many beautiful cards to pick from it was a hard decision. I finally came up with this one. I didn't have any designer paper in Black & White that I really liked, (so I guess I'll have to shop again!) so I made my own with " It's Beautiful ", the jumbo SU Wheel, for the top part of the card, and " Backg
